The Mitutoyo ABSOLUTE 500 series caliper is a Digimatic caliper crafted from durable, hardened stainless steel. It features Mitutoyo's exclusive ABSOLUTE linear encoder technology, allowing users to "set and forget" the origin and measure in awkward or difficult locations. This series also utilizes the patented Advanced Onsite Sensor (AOS), improving measurement dependability by increasing resistance to harsh workshop conditions.

The new electromagnetic inductive (AOS) sensor boasts enhanced resistance to environmental factors, such as dirt, oil, and water, which can otherwise lead to false readings. This innovative feature will bolster quality control and productivity in the workplace.

The digital caliper sports an LCD readout and function control buttons, including Origin to set and retain the original measuring point, and Zero/ABS (Absolute Scale) to zero-set the display. Employing the metric measuring system, this device offers precision comparable to dial and vernier calipers, with the added benefit of a clear LCD that enhances reading reliability.

The Absolute Scale (ABS) function tracks the origin point, even after the caliper is powered off. Upon reactivation, the caliper can immediately commence measuring, without the need for zero resetting or concern over speed errors. The LCD can be "zeroed out" before taking and comparing incremental measurements, eliminating the necessity to subtract the first reading from the second.

Powered by a single SR44 silver oxide cell battery lasting approximately 3.5 years under normal use, the calipers feature the ABSOLUTE electrostatic capacitance linear encoder, preventing over speed errors. They measure outer diameter (OD), inner diameter (ID), depth, and step, with an LCD resolution of 0.01mm. Additional functions include origin-setting, zero-setting, and automatic shutoff.

An optional Data Hold Unit (sold separately) enables a Digital LCD Data Reading Hold function. The caliper also includes an alarm to alert the user of low voltage, scale contamination, and counting value composition errors. A rolling thumb wheel facilitates fine adjustments, while a thumb screw locks the scale's position. Response speed is unlimited.
