The Mitutoyo 532 series vernier caliper is designed for applications where the highest accuracy is required, particularly in scientific research and industries where precise part fit is crucial. It features a fine adjustment carriage to precisely control the movement of the vernier scale, and two sets of jaws along with a depth bar for four-way measurement in inch and metric units of outer dimension (OD), inner dimension (ID), step, and depth.
The caliper has a dual vernier scale, with an upper scale measuring in inches and a lower scale measuring in millimeters. A fine adjustment carriage allows for precise movement of the vernier scale, while a 14-degree vernier face angle improves visibility and helps prevent parallax error during measurement reading.
The caliper's two sets of jaws provide the capability to make OD and ID measurements, as well as step measurements, where the butt end of the fixed jaw measures one end of a work piece before its upper/lower or inner/outer "steps" are measured. A depth measuring blade with rounded edges enables depth measurements. The scales are raised to slide easily and protect the graduation markings.
The caliper features a thumbwheel for fast and easy measuring, and a clamping screw on the upper scale that rotates to control scale movement and locks to hold the sliding jaw's position. The caliper is made of hardened, corrosion-resistant stainless steel with a satin chrome finish that helps reduce glare. It meets Federal Accuracy Specifications GGG-C-111B.
